Since the initial reveal of Grand Theft Auto VI, PC enthusiasts have braced for a prolonged exclusivity window on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. Historically, Rockstar Games has staggered its PC rollouts considerably—leaving players waiting 19 months for Grand Theft Auto V and over a full year for Red Dead Redemption 2.

However, new publishing schedule reports from GamesBeat and Eurogamer suggest a far more aggressive release roadmap this time around, indicating that the PC version is internally slated for arrival in the first quarter of 2027.

A Dramatically Shortened Exclusivity Window

According to sources familiar with Take-Two Interactive’s release calendar, the developer has restructured its pipeline to minimize platform lag. The targeted window—placing the PC launch between January and March 2027—would see the game arrive on high-end desktop rigs just four to five months after its November 19, 2026 console debut.

"Rockstar is aiming to capitalize on peak cultural momentum by bringing Leonida to the PC community before the close of fiscal year 2027, rather than letting platform hype cool down."

The shortened development runway is attributed to modern development workflows, where core PC architecture was developed concurrently with current-generation console builds, avoiding the extensive post-launch rebuilds that plagued earlier franchise entries.

Digital Bottlenecks and Pre-Order Surges

The report comes as excitement for the upcoming console launch tests the limits of digital infrastructure:

While Rockstar Games has not yet officially confirmed PC system requirements or an exact calendar date, the prospects of exploring Vice City with unlocked framerates and advanced ray-tracing settings appear much closer than anticipated.
